Our Story

Star Tissue was Established in 2003 with the aim of becoming a world-class manufacturer of hygiene paper products. Building on the 45 years of experience the family had in the paper industry the business started off in a small unit in Blackburn and in 2011 relocated to the current mega site on Waterfall Street, allowing development of their now state-of-the-art production facility becoming of the UK’s leading independent manufacturers of hygiene paper products.

In 2019, Star Tissue caught the attention of WEPA, a leading European manufacturer of hygiene paper products, renowned for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. Recognizing a shared ethos in prioritizing environmental responsibility and maintaining a family-owned business culture, WEPA embarked on a journey to acquire Star Tissue officially in 2024. This union marked a significant milestone, blending the heritage and expertise of Star Tissue with the expanded reach and progressive vision of WEPA.

Driven by a mutual aspiration to redefine the landscape of the away-from-home market, WEPA’s acquisition of Star Tissue allows further collaboration to implement their shared dedication to pioneering sustainable solutions and fostering innovation in the UK. With WEPA’s support, Star Tissue is ready to amplify its impact, leveraging synergies to advance environmentally conscious practices and elevate standards across the industry. Together, as part of the WEPA Group, Star Tissue continues to embody its founding principles while embracing a future characterized by bold innovation and sustainable growth now under WEPA Professional UK.
